2026 HAPPENINGS – MAY
May 13 – Cynthia’s
Cynthia’s management welcomed this month’s Dining Out attendees at the door and led the way to a cozy private room. Super wait staff ushered us to two inviting, large tables with huge, central Lazy Susans that were set and ready for dinner to begin.
It was a truly wonderful evening filled with good friends and the sounds of friendly banter, conversation and laughter. A most lively chatter only occasionally interrupted by short interludes of silence as we tucked into appetizers and plentiful dishes of artfully decorated, delicious Chinese food… another thoroughly enjoyable dining out experience, thank you very much Suzan Pratt.

May 13 – Raven Murphy
Story teller, singer/songwriter, nature guide Raven Murphy gave a talk on the benefits of spending time in the outdoors and what she learned from her grandmother about the benefits of knowing the forest. Raven told how this knowledge had a great effect on her life and personal wellbeing.
Before she began her talk she placed an intriguing white envelope at each member’s seat. The envelope was stamped with the instruction not to open until invited to do so. When the time came to open the package we found a sprig of fresh-cut cedar and little purple mesh bag containing a tiny vial of cedar oil. Raven went on to tell us of the benefits that can be derived from the cedar tree. She also invited us to try a sample of some home-brewed cedar tea.
Raven then read a few passages from one or two of her Shut Up and Listen books, copies of which she had brought along and signed for those who purchased them.
May 13 – 50/50 Draw Winner
Presenter Raven Murphy pulled this month’s winning 50/50 ticket. Marie Wallace presented the cash and Leo Ralph happily collected his winnings.
May 13 – New Member
President Garry Sleep and Membership Director Sharon Welsh welcome and presents new member Allison Hannah with her official name badge.
May 13 – Meeting
Membership Director Sharon acknowledged some member birthdays and Trevor hunted through his list of audio clips for the perfect Happy Birthday song.
Break time saw lots of visiting, chatting and catching up with fellow members… something that makes one look forward to the second Wednesday of each month.
