You won’t want to miss Patty!
An accomplished guitarist, singer/song writer, Patty and her friend and bassist Paul Snelgrove shared their love of music with us at our March 2024 general meeting. We are pleased to have Patty back to entertain us at our June Annual General Meeting.
Patty McLaughlin was born and raised in Toronto and began singing for a living in her early twenties. She has been a part of the folk scene in and around the GTA since the late seventies.
In the mid-eighties, she moved to Aurora where she raised her children, Amy & Ben. Patty remains active in York Region’s folk scene and year after year has been a featured performer at many town of Aurora events.
Patty has performed for both children and adults at Aurora’s Arctic Adventure, Ribfest, Colours of the Fall and Aurora’s Annual Street Sale to name a few. She is also the founder and host of the very popular Aurora Folk & Blues Society song circle which takes place every Tuesday night at the Aurora Legion Hall.
Patty recently moved to Innisfil where she started Innisfil’s first song circle and has become an active, giving citizen and welcome performer at local events as well as the Barrie Folk Open Mic, Lawnchair Luminata and the Barrie Folk Festival. Patty has just recently received the Simcoe County Age Friendly Recognition Award for her tireless commitment to her community.
