DESCRIPTION:A Story Close to Home: Our Own Jeanie’s Family History\nThis Remembrance Day\, we are honoured to feature one of our own Aurora York Central PROBUS members\, Jeanie. She has written a book about her father’s Second World War experience in the Royal Canadian Air Force and as a prisoner of war\, a deeply personal connection to the history we remember on this day. \nJeanie was born and raised in the Napanee area\, as were her father and at least three generations before him. After retiring in 2019\, she found the opportunity to fulfill a promise to herself to write her father’s story. In April\, she travelled to the Netherlands with her two daughters and “walked in her father’s footsteps.” \nJeanie moved to Aurora in late 2024 and joined Aurora York Central PROBUS in 2025. We are proud to recognize a fellow club member whose family story brings a personal dimension to Remembrance Day. \n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Located near the heart of downtown Newmarket\, The Crow’s Nest is an authentic British pub that first opened it’s doors in 1999\, making it one of the longest continually open pubs in Newmarket. \nWe offer a wide selection of traditional pub grub including fish & chips\, pies and bangers and mash\,  as well as a range of burgers\, sandwiches and specialties from around the world. \nOur bar is stocked with a wide range of draught and bottled beers from England\, Scotland\, Ireland and mainland Europe\, as well as popular draughts and bottles from across Canada and North America.  We have a selection of Red & White wines from Canada\, the USA and further afield\,  and have a growing selection of Single Malts\, Scotches and Whiskeys. \n  \n\n\n\nIf you plan to attend please use the contact form below . \nWe are happy to have many sign up for our dining out venues. However\, we are aware that last minute instances arise that may prevent you from attending. In that event\, it would be appreciated if you would use the contact form below to let Susan Pratt our Social Director know you will not be there. It is in fairness to the restaurant management\, that we provide them with attendee numbers a week ahead in order for them to arrange adequate staffing and seating.
